The REVALUING MEMORY workshops are a developing project that brings together artists and scientists to explore interaction techniques that can facilitate different bridges between individual knowledge bases and skill sets. This process of building links is called Connected Art practice. The workshops are based around the simple creative behaviours of selecting and mixing to build connectivity. These behaviours are developed from systems for interacting with sound and music, and particularly from the way a DJ (disc jockey) works creatively with a collection of records. In the workshops a setting is created to connect and integrate personal work into a common narrative and from this process to co-design a local shared practice.
One of these workshops was conducted at the MRFU-KIBLIX Art Science Technology Festival in 2013. The REVALUING MEMORY workshop focused around the events' theme on “the (co)existence of bios and techne” within the frame of the festivals "Workshopology". Workshop participants included Monika Pocrnjić, Andrej Firm, Nataša Berk, Tomaž Grušovnik, Borut Popenko, Žiga Bobek, Jerneja Rebernak and Darinka Verdonik.
Each participant brought to the workshop a work of art or research that is, or is represented by an object no bigger than a potato. During the one-day event, participants shared their knowledge and developed skills and resources to collaborate with each other for a joint sustainable network in Maribor.
The workshop process developed around questions as to how can the practitioners implicit knowledge/memory be shared? How can knowledge/memory be re-valued, and through a process of revaluation be integrated in shared practice ? The workshop generated sematic field of connections around each participant’s potatoe, and out of this web of betweeness grew a concept for a co-designed local project: "KULT I NOVACIJA".
"KULT I NOVACIJA" - MOBILE ART&SCIENCE SCHOOL
The co-designed local project KULT I NOVACIJA is an Art&Science school to be hosted in a mobile caravan. It will bring together art practitioners, cultural producers, scientists, and technologists from within the community, to share knowledge, teach, research, and practice in public space. KULT I NOVACIJA is conceived as a mobile unit to tour market places, and other city districts where people gather, where it will offer free drop-in workshops and presentations to enable knowledge sharing in public.
The workshops will be free, and the first ‘University on the Street Lab’ of Slovenia’s future Art&Science educational program. An important aim of KULT I NOVACIJA will be to demonstrate value for the future establishment of Slovenia’s first University based Art, Science, and Technology educational facility.
Market-goers each week will be able to learn, consider, and discuss a wide variety of research topics, and be able to share their own skills and knowledge. Artists, scientists, and engineers will place their research in completely fresh contexts, literally in the marketplace of ideas.
The project revalues and reuses materials, knowledge, tools, and practices. The Mobile Art&Science School will share creativity and enjoyment, as well as educate practitioners and the participants alike. KULT I NOVACIJA will explore the value of sharing research in the common repository of general knowledge.
The KULT I NOVACIJA project and the objects of the participants of the workshop generated the »Revaluing memory« installation for the KIBLIX Festival. The visitors could play and experiment interactively with the Raablabs audiovisual interface in the real space of the exhibition.

Els tallers REVALUING MEMORY són un projecte en desenvolupament que reuneix artistes i científics per explorar tècniques d'interacció que poden facilitar la creació de ponts entre les bases de coneixements individuals i les seves capacitats. Aquest procés de creació de vincles ho vam anomenar la pràctica de l'Art Connectiu. Els tallers es basen en els comportaments creatius senzills de seleccionar i barrejar per crear connectivitat. Aquests comportaments es desenvolupen a partir de sistemes d'interacció amb el so i la música, i particularment a partir de la manera com un DJ (disc jockey) treballa de manera creativa amb una col·lecció de discos. En els tallers es crea un escenari per connectar i integrar el treball personal en una narrativa comuna i a partir d'aquest procés es comença a co-dissenyar una pràctica local compartida.
Un d'aquests tallers es va dur a terme al MRFU-KIBLIX Art Science Technology Festival l'any 2013. El taller REVALUING MEMORY es va centrar al voltant del tema dels esdeveniments sobre "la (co)existència de bios i techne" en el marc de la “Tallerologia" del festival. Entre els participants del taller hi havia Monika Pocrnjić, Andrej Firm, Nataša Berk, Tomaž Grušovnik, Borut Popenko, Žiga Bobek, Jerneja Rebernak i Darinka Verdonik.
Cada participant va portar al taller una obra d'art o de recerca que és o està representada per un objecte no més gran que una patata. Durant l'esdeveniment d'un dia, els participants van compartir els seus coneixements i van desenvolupar habilitats i recursos per col·laborar entre ells per a una xarxa sostenible conjunta a Maribor.
El procés del taller es va desenvolupar al voltant de preguntes sobre com es poden compartir coneixements implícits i la memòria dels participants experts en differents àreas? Com es pot revalorar el coneixement i la memòria? i, mitjançant quin procés de revaloració pot integrar-se en la pràctica compartida? El taller va generar un camp semàtic de connexions al voltant de la “patata” de cada participant, i d'aquesta xarxa llingüística va sorgir un concepte per a un projecte local co-dissenyat: "KULT I NOVACIJA".
"KULT I NOVACIJA" - ESCOLA MÒBIL D'ART&CIÈNCIA
El projecte local co-dissenyat KULT I NOVACIJA és una escola d'Art i Ciència que s'allotja en una caravana mòbil. Reunirà professionals de l'art, productors culturals, científics i tècnics de la comunitat per compartir coneixements, ensenyar, investigar i practicar a l'espai públic. KULT I NOVACIJA està concebut com una unitat mòbil per recórrer els mercats i altres barris de la ciutat on es reuneix la gent, on oferirà tallers i presentacions gratuïtes per facilitar l'intercanvi de coneixement en públic.
Els tallers del primer "Laboratori de la Universitat al carrer" del futur programa educatiu d’Art I ciència d’Eslovènia seran gratuïts. Un objectiu important de KULT I NOVACIJA serà demostrar el seu valor per tal de poder Establir en un futur proper el primer centre educatiu d'Art, Ciència i Tecnologia amb seu a la Universitat d'Eslovènia.
El públic del mercat setmanal podran aprendre, reflexionar i discutir sobre una gran varietat de temes de recerca, i podran compartir les seves pròpies habilitats i coneixements. Artistes, científics i enginyers situaran la seva recerca en contextos completament nous, literalment al mercat de les idees.
El projecte revalora i reutilitza materials, coneixements, eines i pràctiques. La Mobile Art&Science School compartirà creativitat i gaudiment, així com formarà tant als professionals com als participants. KULT I NOVACIJA explorarà el valor de compartir investigacions en el dipòsit comú de coneixement general.
El projecte KULT I NOVACIJA i els objectes dels participants del taller van generar la INSTAL·LACIÓ »REVALORAR LA MEMÒRIA« per al Festival KIBLIX. Els visitants van poder jugar i experimentar de manera interactiva amb la interfície audiovisual de Raablabs a l'espai real de l’exposició.
